Have I Mentioned This Job ROCKS?

Six months and counting! Radio Rock 92.6 The Blitz is fast becoming a destination for Indie Artists from all over the world! As you know we're a classic rock station featuring music from the sixties, seventies and eighties while at the same time focusing all our energy on promoting authors, filmmakers and musicians and this last week our music scene has exploded. Over The weekend I was introduced to several new musical acts that truly have put the rock in my roll!

Our new show, "The Midnight Hour @ Noon" is drawing the attention of artists as close as Los Angeles and as far off as Moscow! In between we've got Holland, the UK, Canada, Germany and even Nashville. The great thing about being the on air talent, I get to not only introduce YOU to these amazing new artists, but I get a chance to help someone who simply needs just one person to take a chance on them. I get the biggest smile when I see the artist shouting on their Facebook page that their song is being played on Radio Rock 92.6 The Blitz! Believe I'm just as excited as they are. Our listener base is building daily. Thanks to the artist Cinja, Germany came out in droves to support their girl!

So if you're just finding out about Tom Slick and The Blitz and you're an indie artist, get in touch and let's get you some new fans!

The Midnight Hour @ Noon

So, looks like we got us a new show! In our original conception of Radio Rock The Blitz…we had always intended on making this a place for Indie Musicians as well as authors and filmmakers. We put together "The Midnight Hour" with the idea being, that most musicians are night owls and everything cool happens at the witching hour. Well, truth be told, Tom Slick just doesn't stay up till those hours any more and, I thought, if we only play these amazing artists in the wee hours of the night…only Australia and the insomniacs will hear them!

The last week of November we began to get a lot of indie music tracks and began playing them during our news segment on The Morning Brew, and while listeners liked it, I did get requests to give them their own show and not disrupt the format of The Morning Brew, (which is all classic rock). I agreed, the indies deserved their own time slot. So, the return of The Midnight Hour was at hand only it would be at noon. We kicked it off, Thursday December 5, 2013 and listeners LOVED IT!

We think here's the reason why; the people who stayed after The Morning Brew was over really wanted to hear the new music and the ones who were tuning in for the classic rock didn't get their groove interrupted while listening at work, home or play. Everybody wins!

We were blessed right out the gate getting to play some amazing new talent!
Bands like:
Circe Link, Swami Lushbeard, RockSauce, Willamena, Stereo Reform, Fahran, Neely,  and solo artists such as,  Josh Damigo, Eric Halter, Jessica Campbell,  Melissa Hollick, Natasha Nicholls, Jim Vierra, Layden Robinson, Kiera Ostment, Matthew Heller, just for starters.

Already next week we have new music from some of the artists I've just listed and we have new musicians coming to play as well! Get ready for great new music!

We ask all listeners please let the bands, singers, know you like them, or you listen on The Blitz, it's a huge help!

Thanks and Rock On! See you Monday on "The Midnight Hour @ Noon"

Tom Slick!

Four Months Old and already Running!

So, just what in the heck has The Blitz been up to lately? Well aside from being blessed with lots of new listeners from around the world. (Poland on Friday!) We've gained several new advertisers that are offering amazing services and products.

But what's been really exciting has been the indie artists that are coming to The Blitz and making it their station! Recently we were followed on Twitter (@926theblitz) by Melbourne Australia's amazing indie musician, Aylin Eser. We followed back, exchanged a few DM's and wow she was so personable and with her music partner Will Larsen, they allowed Tom Slick to play some of Aylin's original tracks! My favorite being "Arrows of Desire". We've added a link to her official site on the Midnight Hour page. We're hoping for an interview in the future with her and Will.

We're also following musician, Grant Lee Phillips of Grant Lee Buffalo. Grant is doing an east coast tour in January if you have a chance to catch him!

So this is cool! On Monday 11/25/13 Tom Slick will be featuring the music from indie band: Willamena on The Morning Brew at 10:30am PST. Don't miss out!

We've expanded our listening hours from 7:30am to 5:30pm PST
and on Friday nights now we have, "Friday After Dark" with DJ, Arabella Fox. She plays soft romantic sounds and love songs for your Friday nights. So if you've got a Friday night date and need some romantic music tune in to Arabella Fox and Friday After Dark. 7:00-8:30pm PST

As we continue to grow and more and more indie artists find us, you will be learning about new films, more music and of course amazing new authors and books! Keep us posted as to what you're up to and we will gladly share your news to the world!

Just Exactly What is The Blitz?

The Blitz is YOUR radio station! As an indie author, I understand how difficult it is to get your work seen in an ocean of books. While places like Pixel of Ink, ENT, or Bookbub can give your work a boost, sadly it's only a temporary spike. Obviously if we could keep our work in view then it would continue to sell-right? So I decided It was time to do something different.

Now, what's different about internet radio? Doesn't everyone pretty much have a blog, or a talk show? True, however, they suffer from the same problem as your books, music and films do...getting seen or being heard. This always seems to be the problem. Hence the creation of Radio Rock 92.6 The Blitz! I decided create a radio station that was like the radio most of us all grew up with.

Remember those days when you had to get up early to go to school? What's the first thing we did? We turned on the radio and for some of us it was AM radio. None the less, it's how we got our day started. Good tunes, while we prepared ourselves for the day. The Blitz is no different, except the station is geared 100% towards the Indie arts scene.

We play classic rock and roll from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, while doing nothing but promoting YOUR work! Often times I wished I could get my work featured on a cool station everyone listened to. Then I thought why can't I? The answer was simple: YOU CAN!

It's our mission to be your go to place to help get the word out about your book, film, music! We're here to announce: YOUR EVENTS BOOK LAUNCHES FILM SCREENINGS LIVE CONCERTS FEATURE INTERVIEWS We do shout outs throughout the entire broadcast and we are WORLDWIDE! If you've got internet, then you can hear The Blitz!

The Blitz is NOT a 24/7. Currently we are on Mon-Fri 9-12 PST with our show: The Morning Brew. Then from 12-1pm PST is The Midnight Hour @ Noon.  So if you've got a book you want mentioned, be interviewed, a band with original tunes, a film that needs some exposure, then get in touch and let's get new fresh eyes on your work! Join me, mornings to listen to the best in classic rock and roll and learn all about what's new in the indie scene! Sincerely, your Blitz, DJ—Tom Slick!

Emma—The Bravest Little Girl In The World!

Hey Folks, as you all know we launched Radio Rock 92.6 The Blitz two weeks ago today. It's been awesome so far but nothing compared to the feeling and emotions I experienced this morning on my show.

you see I follow an author named Jennifer Minar Jaynes, and in her FaceBook feed I learned about this adorable little girl named Emma. Emma is only 10 years old and she was born with a really rare disease called Fanconi Anemia, which causes complete bone marrow failure, as well as different cancers. There is no cure yet, just treatments to extend her life. She's gotten sicker as she's gotten older and is to the point that her body hardly has any bone marrow in it at all, and it makes hardly any white blood cells, platelets, or red blood cells.
She's had to travel almost 1000 miles for a bone marrow transplant, at a center that specializes in her illness, leaving most of her family behind. Being gone 5-7 months, if all goes well. Longer, if not. Her parents keep a FB page for her as well:www.facebook.com/ourlittletasteofheaven
Well I spent a long time on their FB page, looking at all the photos and videos her parents have shared with all of us. As a dad, naturally it breaks my heart to see someone so sweet deal with something so relentless. Naturally I wanted to do something for her. Like so many of us, due to distances and circumstances we're unable to do something physical for Emma, but all of us can follow their page, and share her story. I shared some emails with Emma's mom, Teresa, and asked her if she had a favorite song and her mom was kind enough to share that with me. So as a very small way to let Emma know that she has fans who love her, and support her family through what is obviously a very faith-testing struggle, I dedicated my morning show to her and her mom surprised her with our broadcast this morning. Emma didn't know anything about and her mom snapped this photo when she heard her name on the radio....I have admit folks the moment I saw it...I cried! This little angel touched my heart and soul from all the way across the United States!
Emma

If you have the time, please go to their FB page and like it, let Emma know you care, give her family the encouragement they deserve....and most important...say a prayer for Emma...your breath won't be wasted.

Her mom told me when she heard the song...she got up and danced...Thank you Teresa and Tyler for being so brave to share your little girl with the world!

We love you Emma!
